Glitch had been absent for two days.

Moreso than in the usual way, he had spent two days with the alchemists and medics and Raw, the comforting presence of his friend connecting him to the current problem.

They'd talked it over. Him, the alchemist and Ambrose. Except he and Ambrose didn't really talk, being as how he was Ambrose, except that he wasn't and that was really part of the problem, except when it wasn't.

It was enough to give anyone a headache.

He had asked them to give him time. To think about it. Everyone had agreed to give him his space and he had gone to think.

Thinking, as it turned out, meant sitting up on the railing of a balcony, looking over the O.Z. and finding that for once, he didn't glitch and forget.

The one time he wouldn't have minded it.

"Assaulting a police officer. Criminal offense. Couldn't have that."

He looks ahead, to where they're going, wherever seems nice; he's aiming for the stream again. Believe it or not, but he enjoys water.

"Don't worry, though. I won't press charges."It's a wonder his face keeps straight when his eyes glow with mirth, but it does.

Glicth stares for a moment, and then starts laughing. "Make me try to persuade you not to press charges? Or is this a free offer without having to win you over with my ample charms?"

"One time only offer, smart guy."

It's so, so good to hear Glitch laugh again. It's only right. It's only right, and Cain made him laugh.

All in a day's work.

"Then I suppose I better take it. I'd hate to have to defend my honour in a jail cell, up on assault charges." He leans into Wyatt with a last giggle. "Where are we going?"

"There's a stream up ahead, leads into the woods."

Maybe smiling isn't so bad, if this is what he gets for it. Not bad. Not bad at all.

"We won't go far." But just far enough to show Glitch something.

"I don't mind. I spent years wandering all over the place. And I have a warm coat! And buttons done up. I'll be fine, snug and warm where ever we end up."
